January 2017

Private equity investors Advent International and Bain Capital acquired payment service provider Concardis. Previous Concardis shareholders included Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, Unicredit AG, DZ Bank and Deutsche Sparkassen- und Giroverband.

Concardis GmbH, headquartered in Eschborn near Frankfurt, originally evolved from the Gesellschaft für Zahlungssysteme (GZS). The company provides cashless payment processes via Visa and Mastercard credit cards. In 2016, Concardis handled transaction turnover of EUR 42 billion in 422 million transactions. Advent and Bain acquired Concardis through a joint acquisition vehicle.

The Munich P+P team consisting of partner Benedikt Hohaus and counsel Tim Kaufhold (both M&A/private equity, management participation) advised Concardis' management on the transaction.
