AIFMD Review 2021 and innovations for fund managers
The European financial industry is currently awaiting the EU Commission’s proposal for a fundamental revision of the AIFM Directive. With the aim of strengthening the European single market and completing the Capital Markets Union, key areas for “AIFMD II” have been identified in advance. These include distribution issues and passporting, better investor protection and greater supervisory coherence and cooperation. Uwe Bärenz and Tobias Lochen summarize the current status and provide an outlook on the expected proposal.
