Venture debt: advantages and disadvantages compared to financing rounds

Venture debt is a debt instrument specially tailored to start-ups. It is not an alternative to classic equity financing, but a supplement to it. Venture debt is only considered for start-ups in an advanced stage of development and is sensibly used to bridge or extend the time until the next financing round or until the exit.
