The foundation law reform has come into force!

How can I tell that a foundation exists, who its board of directors is, and whether the person acting can represent the foundation at all? What will I have to do legally if I take on a position on the board of a foundation that has been offered to me? What advantages and disadvantages could a foundation have as a co-partner? Since there are already more than 25,000 foundations with legal capacity (and the trend is upward), the probability of being confronted with these questions at some point is relatively high.

On July 1, 2023, the reform of foundation law will come into force. All foundation civil law regulations can now be found in the German Civil Code (BGB). Katharina Gollan sheds light on some aspects of the reform.
