POELLATH advises Alro Group, a holding of the Belgian investor Gimv, on entering into a strategic partnership with IPC

The Belgian Alro Group, which specializes in coating and painting plastic and metal parts for cars and trucks, has entered into a strategic partnership with InProCoat Holding GmbH (“IPC”), a German specialist for fire-protection coatings.

Together with IPC, Alro Group will offer, inter alia, flame-resistant coatings for electric vehicle batteries, supporting the trend towards e-mobility that many well-known car brands are spurring on with their current models.

Alro Group is a portfolio company of Belgium-based Gimv NV (“Gimv”), a European investment company with 40 years of experience as a private equity firm. Gimv currently has a portfolio of approximately EUR 2 billion divided among more than 55 investments, which together generate annual revenues of more than EUR 2.8 billion and employ 15,000 people. POELLATH provided comprehensive legal advice to the Alro Group in connection with the investment.

Founded in 1976 by the Thijs family and based in Belgium, Alro Group employs approximately 1,000 people and has around 20 coating plants that process over 100,000 products per day on modern production lines using data-controlled processes. IPC’s expertise in fire-resistant coatings complements the know-how of the Alro Group, which already supplies discerning customers in the automotive industry such as Audi, Volvo and Porsche with innovative anti-corrosion coatings for their electric vehicle models.
