POELLATH advises CEO of Aerotec Europe on sale to Borromin Capital Fonds IV

As part of a management buy-out, Borromin Capital Fonds IV has invested in Aerotec Europe GmbH and its subsidiary, Airplane Equipment & Services A.E.S. GmbH (to-gether “AES”).

The seller was AURELIUS Wachstumskapital (“AURELIUS”), which had acquired the majority shares in Airplane Equipment & Services in 2016 as part of a corporate succession. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

AES Group was founded in 1997 in Cologne by Willy Reinhard as a service company for maintenance and repair work on regulated components of passenger aircraft. Since then, the company has expanded its service portfolio and developed into a leading service provider for the air cargo industry in the DACH region.

The company employs 120 people at five independent offices near Cologne, Frankfurt, Leipzig and Basel airports. Each location offers its customers certified services at the highest level.

Founded in 2001, Borromin is an independent private equity firm focused on medium-sized companies in German-speaking Europe and the Benelux countries. The private equity funds initiated and advised by Borromin invest in medium-sized companies and provide equity capital for entrepreneurial successions, management buy-outs and growth financing.

AURELIUS is a pan-European alternative investment group with offices in London, Luxembourg, Munich, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Milan, Madrid and Düsseldorf. The investor is active in the business areas of growth capital, real estate and alternative forms of financing.

Munich partner Dr. Barbara Koch-Schulte provided comprehensive legal and tax advice to the CEO of AES in connection with the transaction.
