POELLATH advises TRUMPF Venture on investment in kiutra

As part of a Series A financing round, TRUMPF Venture GmbH has invested in quantum technology start-up kiutra. TRUMPF Venture led the financing round, in which a mid-seven-digit amount was invested in kiutra.

Kiutra develops magnetic cooling systems that can reach ultra-low temperatures without the need for rare and expensive liquid gases. Such magnetic refrigerators play a key role in the research and development of quantum technologies. Kiutra was founded in 2018 as a spin-off of the Munich Technical University.

With around 14,800 employees, the high-tech company TRUMPF offers manufacturing solutions for machine tools and laser technology and generated sales of EUR 3.5 billion in 2020/21. TRUMPF Venture expands the TRUMPF Group’s comprehensive activities to promote innovation and identify disruptive technologies at an early stage. The corporate venture capital unit invests globally in early-stage start-ups whose activities are complementary or adjacent to TRUMPF’s core areas, such as advanced photonics and smart factory solutions.
