POELLATH advises Porsche Automobil Holding SE on investment in rocket start-up Isar Aerospace

POELLATH advised Porsche Automobil Holding SE (“PSE”) on its investment in the rocket/space start-up Isar Aerospace Technologies GmbH (“Isar Aerospace”).

With this investment as part of a new funding round, Porsche Automobil Holding SE further expands its investment portfolio with a focus on mobility and industrial technologies. The current funding round had a volume of approximately USD 75 million. In total, Isar Aerospace has already raised more than USD 180 million from well-known investors such as HV Capital, Lakestar, Earlybird and Airbus Ventures.

Isar Aerospace, based in Ottobrunn near Munich, develops and produces launch vehicles for transporting satellites. The first rocket launch is planned for next year. The “Spectrum” rocket developed by the company offers a means of transporting satellites that is particularly cost-effective and flexible in terms of scheduling. In the course of an expected increase in demand for the launch of small satellites, for example due to new business models in the areas of connectivity and earth observation, Isar Aerospace intends to achieve significant cost advantages over currently available launch vehicles, primarily through a high degree of automation in the production of the rockets.

POELLATH provided comprehensive legal advice to PSE in connection with the acquisition of the shareholding with the following Munich team:

Dr. Christian Breuer from the law firm Preu Bohlig advised on IP issues.
